The Opportunity
As our manufacturing footprint in Southeast Asia expands, we are seeking a technically gifted and commercially minded Financial Reporting Manager to join our Gelang Patah facility.
This is a unique "hybrid" role that bridges the gap between high-level ASX Group Reporting and hands-on Plant Controlling. You will be the primary financial link between our Malaysian operations and our Australian headquarters, ensuring that our local manufacturing success is accurately translated into group performance. You will report directly to the Group CFO in Australia, acting as their "eyes and ears" on the ground.
Key Responsibilities
1. Group & Statutory Reporting (ASX Focus)
Lead the month-end, half-year, and year-end closing processes for the Malaysian entity, ensuring full alignment with AASB/IFRS and MFRS.
Prepare comprehensive Group reporting packages for the Australian HQ, including consolidations and variance analysis.
Ensure strict adherence to ASX listing rules regarding financial disclosures and internal control frameworks (SOX-lite/J-SOX equivalent).
Coordinate the annual audit process, acting as the primary point of contact for external auditors.
2. Plant Controlling & Operational Excellence
Act as a strategic business partner to the Plant Manager, providing insights into manufacturing variances, labor productivity, and overhead absorption.
Oversee standard costing maintenance and participate in the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting cycles.
Monitor CAPEX investments, tracking actual spend against project milestones and ROI targets.
Review inventory valuation and lead the strategy for E&O (Excess & Obsolete) provisioning.
3. Leadership & Local Oversight
Direct the local finance structure, working in tandem with the Financial Operations Manager to ensure seamless AP/AR and payroll integration.
Mentor and develop a team of junior subordinates, driving a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Ensure local compliance regarding Malaysian tax (SST, Corporate Tax) and Transfer Pricing documentation in coordination with group tax policies.
The Ideal Candidate
Education & Qualification: * Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA (AU/MY) is mandatory.
Professional Background: * Minimum 7–10 years of experience, with a heavy preference for candidates coming directly from a "Big 10" Audit firm (Big 4 + BDO, Grant Thornton, RSM, etc.) at a Managerial level.
Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is essential; technology/electronics manufacturing experience is a significant advantage.
Technical Proficiency: * Strong working knowledge of IFRS/AASB.
Hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
Communication: * Must possess impeccable English (written and verbal), with the ability to influence and present to C-suite stakeholders in Australia.
