Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance and accounting functions for our Bursa Malaysia-listed technology company specializing in enterprise software and solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all financial reporting, accounting operations, regulatory compliance, internal controls, and ensuring the integrity of financial data to support strategic decision-making and meet public company requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting and Compliance (Bursa Focus)
Group Reporting: Oversee and manage the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements in compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS) and the Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements (MMLR).
Statutory Filings: Ensure timely and accurate submission of all regulatory filings, tax reports (direct and indirect), and corporate announcements to Bursa Malaysia and the Securities Commission (SC).
Audit Management: Lead and manage external and internal audit processes, serving as the primary liaison, and ensuring clean audit opinions and timely completion of statutory audits.
Taxation: Oversee corporate tax matters, including compliance, planning, and transfer pricing documentation, working closely with external tax advisors.
2. Financial Operations and Control
Accounting Operations: Manage the full spectrum of day-to-day finance and accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and fixed assets management.
Internal Controls: Design, implement, and monitor robust internal control systems (ICR/Internal Control over Financial Reporting) to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
System Integrity: Oversee and manage the company's accounting systems (ERP/Financial software), ensuring data accuracy, system integrity, and supporting continuous improvement or migration projects.
Treasury and Cash Flow: Manage daily cash flow, optimize working capital, and coordinate with the Treasury function on banking facilities and fund management.
3. Leadership and Management
Team Leadership: Lead, manage, mentor, and develop the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance, accuracy, and continuous professional development.
Business Partnering: Work closely with department heads (Sales, R&D, Operations) to provide financial expertise, interpret performance data, and ensure operational decisions are aligned with financial targets.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Coordinate and manage the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting, and variance analysis, providing actionable insights into business performance.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
Professional Qualification: Must be a Chartered Accountant (CA) and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) (or equivalent professional body like ACCA/CPA).
Experience:
Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a Managerial or Controller capacity.
Mandatory experience working with or for a Public Listed Company (PLC) in Malaysia is required, demonstrating strong familiarity with Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements and compliance standards.
Prior experience in the Technology, Software, or Enterprise Solutions industry is highly advantageous.
Solid technical accounting skills (MFRS/IFRS) and proven experience in group consolidation.
Skills: High proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar), advanced Excel skills, and strong communication abilities to liaise effectively with regulatory bodies, auditors, and senior management.
