Job Description Head of Group Accounting
About the Role This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial consolidation across multiple entities. The Head of Group Accounting & Entity Reporting will oversee group and entity statutory reporting, enforce accounting policies and controls, manage audits, and provide strategic financial insights. The role also includes team leadership and driving process improvement to ensure compliance and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Lead group consolidation, entity financial reporting, principal reporting, regulatory reporting, accounting separation, and management reporting.
This includes, but is not limited to, the consolidation of Group GL entries, records, accruals, and allocation adjustments to ensure timely and accurate quarterly Bursa reporting and the preparation of annual financial statements in compliance with approved accounting standards (e.g., MFRS) and group policies.
Audit & Regulatory Coordination
Coordinate and support external audits and regulatory reviews to ensure alignment with applicable regulations and standards.
System & Process Oversight
Manage the Group's accounting system and cost centers.
Lead the balance sheet review exercise by entity.
Prepare quarterly Audit Committee and Board papers.
Governance & Monitoring
Establish a framework or process to monitor and report on Related Party Transactions (RRPT) and Connected Parties (CP), ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory requirements.
People Leadership
Lead and develop the Accounting & Entity Reporting team, driving performance, capability building, and fostering a high-performing culture.
Requirements
Must possess at least a Degree in Accounting/Finance or any Professional Certificate (e.g., MIA, ACCA, MICPA, ICAEW, etc.).
Minimum of 10 years of experience in Accounting and a minimum of 3 years in a managerial level.
Experience in auditing and strong technical knowledge of accounting standards.
Experience in group consolidation and strong analytical skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
An organized person with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent command of English and Bahasa Malaysia, both written and spoken.
Possesses drive, initiative, and work commitment.
A strong team player who is adaptable to change.
