Job Purpose
The Head of Corporate Finance and Capital Markets is responsible for driving origination efforts and leading the execution of live transactions across the Equity Capital Markets (ECM) and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) space. This role serves as a strategic leader in managing diverse deal types, including IPOs, private placements, rights issues, private capital fundraising, and take-privates.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Transaction Execution & Origination
Coverage Split: Manage a dual portfolio comprising 50% Malaysia Investment Banking coverage and 50% ECM/M&A activities.
Regional Management: Oversee transactions primarily focused on Malaysia and the broader Southeast Asia (SEA) region.
Material Preparation: Prepare comprehensive materials for origination efforts and ensure high-quality delivery for live transactions.
Deal Spectrum: Lead and execute complex deals including IPOs, private placements, rights issues, private capital fundraising, and take-privates.
2. Technical Analysis & Due Diligence
Research & Modeling: Present findings of in-depth research and analysis, supported by robust financial modeling and valuation assessments.
Due Diligence: Lead the due diligence process to identify risks and opportunities within potential transactions.
Administrative Oversight: Assist with critical administrative duties, including the coordination of roadshows and the production of reports.
Documentation: Prepare and review documentation relating to various internal and external regulatory and compliance processes.
3. Team Leadership & Operations
Mentorship: Actively train and mentor junior analysts and interns to build a high-performing finance team.
Internal Support: Support senior bankers and the broader regional team as required to achieve organizational goals.
Knowledge Management: Maintain firm credentials and internal databases to support future deal origination.
Qualifications & Skillsets
Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in a Business or Finance-related discipline.
Experience: * Minimum 8 years of relevant Corporate Finance (CF) experience.
Proven expertise in financial modeling, valuation, pitch book preparation, and review of legal documents.
Prior Investment Banking experience is a distinct advantage, particularly for candidates who have successfully completed deals across Southeast Asia.
Technical Proficiency: Strong analytical skills with the ability to devise creative solutions to complex financial problems.
Language Skills: Fluent in both spoken and written Business Mandarin to facilitate regional communication.
