about the job
The Inspector of Works is responsible for the site-level technical surveillance of civil, structural, and architectural works. The primary goal is to ensure the contractor adheres to the "Three Pillars": Approved Drawings, Technical Specifications, and Quality Standards (e.g., Q-LASSIC / CONQUAS).
1. Technical Surveillance & Quality Control
Conduct daily inspections of all site activities (piling, structural framing, MEP rough-ins, and architectural finishes).
Witness and verify material testing, including concrete cube tests, tensile strength tests, and plumbing pressure tests.
Ensure that only approved materials (as per the Material Submission Form) are used and stored correctly on-site.
2. Compliance & Verification
Verify that setting-out and levels are accurate according to the Surveyor’s benchmarks.
Check reinforcement bar (rebar) sizing, spacing, and cleanliness before any concrete pour.
Monitor and sign off on "Request for Inspection" (RFI) forms submitted by the contractor.
3. Reporting & Documentation
Maintain an accurate Site Diary, recording manpower, machinery, weather, and daily progress.
Develop and update the Defect Log, tracking rectification works from identification through to final sign-off.
Provide photographic evidence for progress payment valuations to ensure the developer only pays for work correctly completed.
4. Safety & Coordination
Escalate any safety violations or structural risks to the Safety Officer and Project Manager immediately.
Attend weekly site progress meetings to provide updates on quality trends or technical bottlenecks.
