Our client is an established engineering and manufacturing company seeking a skilled Planning Engineer to join their team. This pivotal role is responsible for the overall planning process, from receiving customer orders to ensuring on-time delivery.
About the Role
The Planning Engineer is responsible for production scheduling by creating, tracking, and reporting on the current production status. This role involves planning and prioritizing operations to ensure maximum performance and minimal delays. The Planning Engineer will also be expected to commit to customer delivery dates with the sales and customer service teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the entire planning process, from receiving customer orders to delivering finished goods.
Preparing an Output Plan and Master Production Schedule (MPS) to monitor status.
Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on the performance of production activities.
Effectively planning to minimize change-overs and reduce waste production setup time.
Coordinating with order management, purchasing, and production departments to sequence production.
Providing Match Set Reports and coordinating with the store and purchasing on material shortages.
Controlling Work-In-Progress (WIP) and Finished Goods (FG) inventory stock.
Utilizing the NAV System to release and close production orders on time.
Notifying Customer Service of any schedule impacts to customers.
About the Team
You will be a part of the Planning Department, reporting to the Planning Manager. This role also supervises Planners and Assistant Planners.
Skills & Experience RequiredEducation & Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or Operations is required, along with at least three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: load/capacity planning, production planning, or ERP planning.
Technical Skills: The ideal candidate has knowledge of ERP systems and has implemented improvement activities. Proficiency in Microsoft NAV, SAP, or other ERP planning systems is also required.
Key Competencies: You must be able to understand different roles, functions, and processes, such as production and New Product Introduction (NPI). You should also have the ability to exercise judgment within defined procedures to determine appropriate actions for audit and status closure.
