Regional Senior Manager, Risk Assurance
This role, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, reports to the Director of Risk Assurance. As an Assurance Senior Manager, you would support the delivery of the Head Office's second-line assurance plan for all local business units in the markets where the company operates. This includes preparing high-quality planning documents, working papers, and final reports. You may also assist with reviews of the Group's second-line assurance plan or its subsidiaries. This position requires close collaboration with the Risk, Compliance, and Legal (RCL) function, as well as the Group Risk, Compliance, and Security (RCS) function.
The second-line assurance team reviews conformance with Group Policy, regulatory requirements, and other high-risk areas identified through planning and risk assessments.
Your key accountabilities would include:
... Conducting second-line assurance reviews and other ad-hoc assignments, with a focus on quality and timely delivery.
Providing technical and managerial leadership for reviews of asset and investment management processes.
Driving data analytics and automated testing efforts for assurance activities.
Engaging regularly with business partners to stay informed of new initiatives and changes.
Keeping up with internal and external risk trends and industry best practices to provide effective recommendations.
The ideal candidate will have at least 7-8 years of experience in internal audit or second-line assurance at a multinational asset management, unit trust, mutual fund, or investment company. This experience should include data-driven auditing. Technical skills in fund management-related processes like investment & dealing, trade compliance, and financial crime are essential. Candidates with compliance, investment, or operations risk management capabilities are preferred.
You should have a strong understanding of risk management, internal controls, and auditing standards. Excellent communication skills are a must, with the ability to synthesize complex technical concepts for non-specialists. The role also requires an analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to think critically and strategically. Prior experience in a regional office environment is highly advantageous.
