Main Objective of the Job:
- Provide leadership and financial guidance in order to effectively manage Singapore, Malaysia Branch’s finance operations and reporting.
- Ensure the provision of an efficient, professional and credible financial service to external and internal customers to assist them to plan and effectively manage their operational areas.
- To ensure compliance with local financial and tax regulations.
- Support the Malaysia Branch’s growth in managing changes to the business
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting and Accounting
- Provide effective financial accounting and reporting to meet external and internal customer needs as required
- Responsible for preparation of statutory accounts and reporting to various government authorities.
- Responsible for annual statutory audit and reconciliations of management accounts to statutory reports.
- Support Singapore in their consolidation of the Malaysia Branch’s activities in their books. Prepare monthly all monthly regional / corporate reports
- Financial Planning & Analysis
- Assist in the financial planning, reporting and analysis requirements budget preparation and weekly/ monthly forecast ( FARO) .
- Coordinate business planning processes in developing Annual Business Plans and Quarterly Forecast
- Consolidation of business planning results and actual financial results for Management's review
- Prepare and Manage to total Company Pricing Strategy and work closely with relevant stakeholder.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, annual financial/operational reporting (include Advertising and Material expenses).
- Support other ad-hoc analysis and reporting requirements
- Prepare business case analysis for major projects, ROI analysis along with follow up to ensure cost optimization initiatives materialize
- Develop and enhance processes to assist in controlling costs and product pricing.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data for senior management decision making
- Asset/Liability Management
- Ensure that operations in Malaysia manage their asset / liability to maximize shareholders value.
- Support / initiate measures to improve net working capital management
- Tax planning to ensure compliance and tax efficiency.
- Operations
- Supervises accounting team which covers inventory management, receivable and payment process (including Purchase Orders).
- Responsible for all month end activities including booking of journal entries
- Responsible for cash management including projections of cash management needs
- Ensure that operations are run efficiently and effectively
- Compliance
- Support in the implementation of a strong control framework in the Malaysia Branch. Drive compliance to finance controls – within and outside the Finance team.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, including Finance, Taxation, Customs, FOREX, etc
- Responsible for monthly GST submission
- Information & Technology Management
- Support / initiate process improvement to increase efficiency, adding value for internal and external stakeholders and achieve standardization
- Support / initiate better solutions by using Information Technology tools and applications
Position Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Possess professional accounting qualification – MICPA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA
- At least 6 to 8 years working experience in the finance controllership area
- Experience in a pharmaceutical or FMCG will be an advantage
- Preferably from big 4 audit firm
- Good analytical skill and be able to drive performance
- Above average PC literacy
- Proficiency with business English (oral and written)
- Working knowledge of Malaysia law, tax, and audit requirements
