About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and commercially-minded individual for a newly created Assistant Trade Marketing Manager position. This is a unique opportunity to help build and define the trade marketing function within the company.
You will be the key link between the brand marketing and sales teams, responsible for translating brand strategies into effective in-store execution and channel-specific plans. This hands-on role requires a blend of commercial acumen and creative thinking to drive brand visibility, shopper activation, and sales velocity across all key retail channels.
Key Responsibilities
Support the development and execution of the annual trade marketing calendar, aligning with brand objectives and sales targets.
Design and implement channel-specific strategies and promotions (e.g., Modern Trade, General Trade, Food Service/HORECA).
Lead the development, production, and deployment of all in-store merchandising materials (POSM), ensuring brand consistency and high visibility at the point of purchase.
Plan and manage in-store activations, shopper events, and sampling programs to drive trial and consumer engagement.
Collaborate closely with the sales team to ensure seamless execution of trade activities and provide them with the necessary tools (e.g., trade presenters, sales kits).
Manage and track the trade marketing budget effectively, ensuring optimal ROI on all activities.
Analyze sales data, shopper insights, and competitor activities to identify new growth opportunities and provide strategic recommendations.
Monitor and report on the performance of trade promotions and activations, providing post-mortem analysis and key learnings.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in trade marketing, category management, or sales within the FMCG industry.
Experience in the beverage or food category is a strong advantage.
Proven experience in developing and executing successful in-store campaigns and promotions.
Strong understanding of the Malaysian retail landscape, including modern trade and general trade dynamics.
Excellent commercial acumen and strong analytical skills, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
A hands-on, proactive "builder" mindset, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and establishing new processes.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both sales and marketing teams.
