As an Indirect Buyer, you will be responsible for developing and executing local purchasing strategies that align with global objectives. You will drive cost optimisation (TCO), lead complex negotiations, and foster sustainable supplier relationships while ensuring compliance with ESG standards and group policies.
key responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing: Develop and deploy local purchasing strategies for assigned categories and lead the entire sourcing process from market analysis to contract execution.
Financial Impact: Drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis and propose estimated savings to Finance/CFOs to influence budget construction.
Sustainable Procurement: Systematically integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria into all RFIs, RFPs, and supplier assessments.
Supplier Management: Conduct formal supplier evaluations, strategic reviews, and risk mapping to ensure performance, compliance, and business continuity.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with internal business leaders to challenge specifications, identify needs, and maximise synergies across the organisation
Performance Monitoring: Set up robust tracking mechanisms to monitor negotiated vs. realised savings and report regularly to management.
Innovation Scouting: Partner with suppliers to identify and pilot innovative solutions that add value to the business.
- Data Integrity: Ensure all contracts and tender data are accurately maintained in the Group's digital procurement tools for full traceability.
skills and experience required
Education: Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field.
Professional Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Indirect Procurement, ideally within the Retail or FMCG sectors.
Technical Expertise: Strong negotiation skills and proficiency in TCO analysis.
Systems Proficiency: Experience with ERP and E-Sourcing tools, with a high degree of data accuracy.
Languages: Fluent in both English and Bahasa Malaysia
Mindset: A proactive "problem-solver" capable of influencing stakeholders and advocating for purchasing policies.
