We are currently looking for a Product Engineering Manager for a leading player in the Industrial Machinery Manufacturing Industry for their expansion. This company has a legacy of more than 30 years in the Malaysia. This position requires your urgent attention.

the role
1. Strategic Leadership & Roadmap
Team Development: Build and mentor a high-performing product engineering department.
Engineering Roadmap: Establish a technical strategy that supports the company’s long-term business goals.
Continuous Improvement: Spearhead initiatives to boost product reliability, performance, and market cost-competitiveness.
2. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Design
Lifecycle Management: Direct NPI projects from the initial prototyping phase through to full-scale mass production.
Manufacturing Standards: Lead critical design activities, including Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
Technical Transfer: Manage design handovers by coordinating directly with R&D teams, customers, and key suppliers.
Trials & Validation: Supervise pre-production pilot runs and technical validation builds to ensure product readiness.
Tooling & Fixtures: Direct the design, sourcing, and approval of all production jigs, fixtures, and specialized tooling.
3. Lifecycle & Documentation Management
Technical Ownership: Maintain and control all product Bill of Materials (BOM), technical drawings, and Engineering Change Notices (ECN/ECR).
Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost reduction, material substitution, and design optimization across the product's life.
Sustaining Support: Provide ongoing technical assistance for products already in mass production to resolve engineering issues.
Performance Tracking: Analyze production yields and field return data to identify and rectify quality trends.
4. Cross-Functional Partnership
Production Readiness: Collaborate with Process Engineering to confirm production feasibility and technical readiness.
Quality & Compliance: Partner with the Quality team for product audits, compliance testing, and site qualifications.
Commercial Support: Assist Sales and Business Development with technical expertise for customer presentations and project proposals.
Vendor Management: Work with suppliers on component qualification and process capability to ensure quality standards are met.
5. Compliance & Regulatory Standards
Malaysian Statutory Compliance: Ensure all products meet local legal requirements, including SIRIM, DOSH, and DOE where applicable.
International Standards: Oversee compliance for global certifications such as CE, UL, RoHS, and REACH, alongside relevant ISO standards.
Standardized Records: Manage all engineering documentation to remain strictly aligned with both regulatory bodies and specific customer requirements.
the experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechatronics Engineering. Master’s Degree is an advantage.
Minimum 8–10 years in manufacturing/engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a managerial role.
Proficiency in Mandarin as this role requires to to serve a lot of Mandarin-speaking clients.
