The Project Controller is responsible for managing and monitoring the full financial life cycle and administrative governance of construction roofing projects. This position ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and adhere strictly to contractual obligations and accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
I. Financial Control, Budgeting & Forecasting (Controller Function)
Cost Management & Variance Analysis: Develop and maintain comprehensive project budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor expenditures meticulously and conduct in-depth variance analysis to identify the root causes of deviations between budgeted and actual costs.
Cost Control Implementation: Implement and enforce rigorous cost control procedures across all projects. Proactively identify cost-saving opportunities and provide data-driven recommendations for process and operational improvements.
Forecasting & Risk: Conduct detailed cost and sales forecasting to predict future financial outcomes based on current data and trends. Identify potential financial risks and develop robust mitigation strategies.
Stakeholder Communication: Communicate project financial status (current cost status, opportunities, and threats) to multiple budget owners and challenge business partners when necessary.
II. Project Accounting & Compliance (Accountant Function)
Billing and Revenue Assurance: Own and supervise all aspects of project billing and revenue recognition. Ensure progress claims are accurate, align precisely with project contracts, and comply with established accounting standards.
Transaction Integrity: Ensure the capture of all project cost and revenue data is correctly allocated within the financial systems and ledgers.
Contractual Review: Review and analyze all contracts and purchase orders to ensure strict compliance with contractual obligations and effectively manage the financial impact of change orders (VOs).
III. Reporting, Auditing & Process Enhancement
Executive Reporting: Prepare regular, high-quality project status reports, including detailed financial performance, progress updates, and risk assessments. Present key findings to senior management and stakeholders.
Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and complete project records, including all financial documentation, performance metrics, and compliance documents.
Process Improvement: Contribute to the development and enhancement of project management and financial reporting systems (e.g., SAP integration) to improve overall efficiency and effectiveness.
Project Governance: Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure accurate tracking of project milestones and deliverables, assisting with schedule and resource planning where required.
🛠️ Candidate Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CIMA, PMP) are highly desirable.
Experience: Minimum of 5 of progressive experience in Project Controlling, Financial Management, or a similar analytical role.
Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in project management software and financial tools. Prior experience utilizing SAP or other major ERP systems is strongly preferred.
Skills: Strong analytical, forecasting, and problem-solving skills, coupled with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Attributes: High level of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in all financial reporting and project documentation. Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines.
